February 2025 – Fire Door Inspection Survey in Nottingham – Ensuring Compliance and Safety

Our certified fire door inspector recently carried out a comprehensive fire door inspection at a multistorey office building in Nottingham. The survey involved a total of 50 fire doors, including both FD30 and FD60-rated doors, spread throughout the premises.

Every fire door was meticulously assessed, with our inspector examining all critical components to ensure they meet current UK fire safety regulations. This includes checking the door leaf, frame, intumescent and smoke seals, hinges, closers, signage, glazing (where applicable), and the overall condition and operation of each door. These inspections are designed to identify any issues that could compromise the door’s ability to perform in the event of a fire.

Throughout the survey, photo evidence was collected to document the condition of each door. Accurate measurements were also taken to assess things like gap tolerances and alignment. The result is a comprehensive, door-by-door report that clearly outlines which doors passed inspection and which ones failed, along with the reasons why.

The report doesn’t stop at identifying issues—it also includes a follow-up section outlining the exact work required to bring each door up to standard. Whether a door needs minor repairs, an upgrade to certain components, or a complete replacement, everything is clearly documented. This follow-on report serves as a practical action plan to ensure that all fire doors on site meet the UK’s strict fire safety guidelines and can be fully certified once remedial work is completed.

Our inspections provide building owners and facilities managers with the peace of mind that their fire safety responsibilities are being met with the highest level of diligence and professionalism.
